How to check an AI answer before you use it
An AI answer is a draft of words, not a source. Ask where the claim came from, open that page, and drop any number you cannot find there.
An AI chatbot can tidy a sentence. It can also state a date, a fee, or a quota that is not in any document you have. If you are about to apply for a job, a scheme, or a college seat, that difference matters.
Separate the sentence from the source
Read the answer and mark every claim that would change what you do: a last date, an amount, a document name, a quote, an eligibility rule. For each one, ask which page it came from. If the chat cannot point at a page, or the page does not say that thing, do not use the claim.
Open the page yourself
Follow the link, or search the department’s site. Read the sentence in context. A tool can summarise a page you have not opened, which means you still have not checked it.
