How to read a government scheme page before you apply
A scheme page is a set of conditions, not a promise in a headline. Read who runs it, who can apply, and which portal actually accepts the form.
Government schemes are easy to misread because a headline often talks about a benefit and skips the conditions. The page that matters is the one published by the department that runs the scheme.
Start with the issuer
Find the ministry, state department, or agency named on the page. If a post does not name one, use the National Portal of India or the services directory to look for the department, then read that department’s own page.
Read the conditions, not only the title
Look for who can apply, which documents the form asks for, whether there is a last date, and whether the form is online, at a counter, or both. A government scheme can be real and still not apply to your household. That is a normal outcome, not a mistake you should paper over.
Keep the copy you relied on
