Start at the National Portal when you do not know the department
If you know the task but not the office, the National Portal is a sensible first stop. It is a directory, not the form itself.
India’s public services are spread across ministries, states, and boards. Remembering every address is not realistic. The National Portal of India is a maintained front door for finding them.
Search for the task
Type the service in ordinary words: passport, scholarship, driving licence, pension. Open results that name a department. Then look at the web address. You want the department’s domain, not a page that only talks about the department.
